Hi again!

After the excitement of my birthday, I am currently sat drinking a cup of tea finally relaxing and getting to do a bit of writing. I was wondering on what to post, and upon going to Boots this morning, I had the idea to write a drugstore dedicated post, on my favourite brands and which items in particular I tend to go to those brands for. So, lets jump straight into it….

Primer. Honestly, I can’t say I have tried that many primers from the drugstore, as I have only recently started using primers everyday. Of the two I have tried, which are the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer (what a mouthful!) and the Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Primer, I have to say that I do prefer the the Bourjois one. It feels really light on the skins and does do a decent job of making everything stay longer and a little more dewy.

Foundation. I found it hard to narrow this category down to one brand, but I think I would have to say Bourjois. Having dry skin, I have found that, out of the foundations I have tried they never seem to cling to dry patches. Not to say though, that I like all of their foundations, because I did not get on with the Happy Light foundation or whatever it was called. In particular I really like the Healthy Mix Foundation and the Serum version, and in Summer I always end up going back to the 123 Perfect CC Cream, which is honestly more of a foundation than CC cream. Round 2 goes to Bourjois.

Honourable mention goes to Loreal who just got pipped to the post.

Concealer. 4 words, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I do love the Maybelline Eye Eraser Concealer, but the Collection one is an old favourite and one I always go back too. Its so high coverage and great for under the eye, plus its under £5. Side note, the applicator on the Maybelline one kind of freaks me out because its so unhygienic, just a word of warning.

Powder. Not being a massive powder lover myself, this was a hard one. However, after looking at my collection and discovering I only own one drugstore powder, the decision was made for me, and that being the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (this post is giving me some serious throwback memories). It does what it stay on the tin, doesn’t look cakey and manages to stop my nose looking like a lighthouse light.

Blush. There is no question about this, it has to be Max Factor. The Creme Puff Blushes are just beautiful and I want them all.  They also do the Miracle Touch Creamy Blushes which are lovely and easy to wear, especially in Summer.

Highlight and Contour. I put these two together because you normally get them in palettes in the drugstore. My go-to brand for highlight and contour is Barry M, as I love love love the Chiseled Cheeks Palette. It comes with a matte highlight shade and two contour shades. They are a powder formula and blend really easily, with good colour pay off. Combined with the great price point, its a winner.

Brows. There was one stand out brand for me however, and this is Soap and Glory. The first brow product I tried from them was the Arch De Triumph, which has a under the brow bone highlight on one end and brow pencil on the other. I found the highlight brilliant but the pencil a little hard, but still good. My most used product, and product I am currently using is the Archery 2-in-1 Pencil and Brush.  This is so similar to the Anastasia Brow Wiz, and there is also a version without a brush and with a tint which is like a very thin felt tip.  I was a bit skeptical at first and thought it might be a bit gimmicky, but it does give a really natural effect.

Eyeshadow. Cream eyeshadow, powder, palettes, shadow sticks….there are so many brands for each of these that I love. Overall however I think I would have to go with Sleek, as they have such a wide range of colours and the shadows are so pigmented and buttery, you can really go wrong. I own a few Sleek Palettes, but my most used one has to be the Au Naturel Palette. It has a mixture of matte and shimmers, and you can create so many looks with it, so its perfect for travelling and anyone that loves neutral colours on their eyes.

Eyeliner. Similar to primer, I have only really used a few drugstore eyeliners, and thats only because I love the ones I have used so much, so for me it has to be Loreal, and the Super Liner. Everything you want in a liner, super black,  easy to use and stays put. Super Liner, I salute you.

Mascara. Like foundation, I was torn between two brands. This time it being Max Factor and Loreal. But, I’m going to have to give it to Loreal. The Volume Million Lashes is really good, along with the False Lash Telescopic.

Honourable mention to the Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara my 15 year old self loved it and I couldn’t not mention it.

Lips. I saved the best for last. Again, there are so many different options, from lip gloss, lipstick, lip stains, lip pencils and it goes on…. This is the thing I own the most of because I’m a slight lip product hoarder, and can have anything up to 5 lip products in my bag at one, all ”just in case”. So my brand of choice for lip products in *drum roll*…..Revlon. I just can’t fault any of the products I have tried. I love the whole Colour Burst range, which includes lip stains and gloss sticks and matte balms. The liners are great, and lip butters are just dreamy, now excuse me while I go drool over them in the isles of Boots, you know where to find me.

I hope you enjoyed the post, would you like a high end version?
